Sunday Night Football Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Packers vs 49ers
By Larry Rupp

The San Francisco 49ers will look to stay undefeated when they host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football during Week 3. FanDuel Sportsbook has the 49ers slated as narrow 3-point home favorites in a game that is expected to come down to the wire.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 3 NFC showdown.
Robert Tonyan Fantasy
Start Robert Tonyan, TE, Green Bay Packers: The Packers' passing attack enjoyed a bounce-back performance in Week 2 and the play of tight end Robert Tonyan was a big reason why. The 27-year-old hauled in all three of his targets for 52 yards and 1 touchdown. He draws a great matchup in Week 3 facing a 49ers' defense that has given up the eighth-most PPR fantasy points to opposing TEs so far. Tonyan has emerged as quarterback Aaron Rodgers No. 2 option behind wide receiver Davante Adams and is also averaging a reliable 12.0 yards per reception. Look for Tonyan to ball out under the bright lights in Week 3.
Trey Sermon Fantasy
Start Trey Sermon, RB, San Francisco 49ers: The running back carousel continues to turn in San Francisco as rookie Trey Sermon is now the third starter of the season. Elijah Mitchell is leaving behind an average of 19 touches per game, which means Sermon should be in for a large workload on Sunday night. This is an excellent matchup for the 2021 third-round pick given Green Bay has posted the eighth-worst rush defense DVOA rating in the NFL. Sermon averaged 6.5 yards per carry across four college seasons and has little competition behind him. He lines up as a perfect FLEX player this week.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling Fantasy
Sit Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Green Bay Packers: It's hard to tell why Marquez Valdes-Scantling is struggling to produce from a fantasy football perspective. The veteran wide receiver ranks second on the team with 12 targets, yet has just 3 receptions on the season for 17 yards. Putting together a big performance in Week 3 won't be easy for Valdes-Scantling. San Francisco has given up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing WRs and has allowed just 1 touchdown to the position through two weeks of play. It would be smart to stash Valdes-Scantling on the bench for now until he shows a reason to be started.
Brandon Aiyuk Fantasy
Sit Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers: Another wide receiver failing to live up to the hype is 49ers' second-year pro Brandon Aiyuk. The 23-year-old is coming off a stellar rookie season, but has now seen just 2 targets over the first two weeks. More importantly, Aiyuk has only played in 51% of the offensive snaps so far. The Packers have been gashed by the passing attack this season. However, that is likely going to benefit Deebo Samuel and George Kittle more than Aiyuk. Fantasy managers cannot risk having another dud in the starting lineup. That makes Aiyuk a WR4/5 until he turns things around.
