Training camp is right around the corner and the Pittsburgh Steelers have decided to add another kicker into the mix alongside long-time starter Chris Boswell. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the team is expected to sign Sam Sloman in free agency, pending a physical.

Sam Sloman Kicker

Sloman was a seventh-round pick in 2020 by the Los Angeles Rams and won the kicking job heading into Week 1 last season. However, he was cut before Week 7 due to a shaky start and ended up signing with the Tennessee Titans late in the year. That is where he really showcased his skills.

The 23-year-old helped Tennessee capture the AFC South title by nailing a 37-yard field goal as time expired to defeat the Houston Texans in Week 17. Overall, Sloman made 10-of-13 field goal attempts with a long of 47 yards in 2020 and punched through 23-of-26 point-after tries.

Sloman was released by the Titans in January and now heads into training camp looking to give Boswell some competition. The veteran kicker has had back-to-back solid seasons for Pittsburgh, which makes it unlikely that Sloman will take over the starting job here unless an injury occurs.

The Steelers will look to exceed expectations in the fall and make the playoffs for the second consecutive season. They have odds set at +4400 to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
