Buffalo Bills fans have been holding their breath for two days since safety Jordan Poyer left training camp practice holding his left arm. The All-Pro defender underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with a hyperextended elbow. Head coach Sean McDermott recently provided a concerning return timeline.

Jordan Poyer Injury Update

McDermott explained that it's going to be a week or two before Poyer is back on the field with his teammates. It's not the worst-case scenario, but the start of the regular season is just over a month away. Any setbacks in Poyer's recovery could cost him some playing time when it matters the most.

Poyer was hit on the arm during a rushing play and immediately grabbed his arm in pain. The 31-year-old was able to walk off the field under his own power before taking a knee alongside the training staff. After a couple of minutes, Poyer walked to the golf cart and took a ride back to the locker room.

It wouldn't be surprising to see the Bills take a cautious approach here. Poyer played a crucial role on defense last year, posting 93 tackles (8.0 for loss), 3.0 sacks, 9 pass breakups, and 5 interceptions. He also allowed just a 55.0% completion percentage when targeted in pass coverage.

Keep in mind this isn't the first injury a Bills' safety has suffered in training camp as Micah Hyde left practice on Friday with hip soreness. His injury is far less impactful, though, given he is has already made his way back in a limited capacity. He joins Poyer to create a duo no offense wants to face.

The Bills have the best odds to win Super Bowl 57 at +650, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
