The Seattle Seahawks entered Week 15's Thursday Night Football clash with a chance to make some noise against their biggest rivals. Not only was this game an opportunity to prevent the San Francisco 49ers from clinching the NFC West, but it also would have been an important win for Seattle's playoff standing.
Now at 7-7 following Thursday's 21-13 defeat, the Seahawks are firmly on the bubble instead of in the playoff picture. Unfortunately, the news only gets worse from there.
Wide receiver Tyler Lockett suffered a devastating injury in the final moments of Thursday's loss.
Tyler Lockett Injury Update
According to an update from head coach Pete Carroll following the game, Lockett broke a bone in his finger during the final drive. He's expected to miss at least two games and potentially the rest of the season.
Lockett's been a vital member of Seattle's offense in 2022 as one of the team's top pass-catchers along with DK Metcalf, hauling in 78 receptions on 108 targets for 964 yards and 8 touchdowns in his eighth season with the team.
Carroll summed up the injury with an emotional thought and one that Seahawks fans everywhere can relate to. "I can't even fathom that. I can't fathom playing without Tyler."
If Seattle does make the playoffs, there's a good chance the team will need to do so without Lockett. The Seahawks currently have +128 odds to reach the postseason on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
