It has been an injury-plagued season for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who only appeared in 10 games during the regular season. Watkins hasn't even suited up during the team's postseason run, putting his status for Super Bowl LV in jeopardy.

However, it appears Watkins is making great progress from his calf injury, setting him up to play on Sunday.

Watkins was able to return to practice on Monday, and he's expected to suit up again on Wednesday, which speaks to his recovery. The wideout has struggled to practice throughout this season with his various ailments, but with no setbacks after finally hitting the field again, it bodes well for his availability for the Super Bowl.

Watkins' numbers fell during 2020, with the receiver totaling career lows in receptions and yards. However, that's been a direct result of his injuries. When healthy, he gives the Chiefs another legit threat outside of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.

Heading into the Super Bowl, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be focused on slowing Hill and Kelce down. That creates a need for Kansas City's supporting options to step up, and having Watkins available -- who put up 98 yards on 5 catches in last year's Super Bowl -- would boost the Chiefs' chances on Sunday.
