Injuries have been a major factor throughout the New Orleans Saints' 2022 season. This team is starting to get healthier, though, down the stretch.

New Orleans has received some great injury news on its offensive line ahead of its Week 12 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Rookie Trevor Penning is "expected" to be activated off of the injured reserve list this week, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. That gives him a strong chance to finally take the field in the regular season and make his NFL debut.

Penning was the No. 19 overall selection by the Saints in this year's draft. However, a preseason turf toe injury that ultimately required surgery put a halt on his rookie campaign before it even began. He's been on the shelf since, but his activation would put him on track to play in Week 12.

Penning's return would be significant for an O-line that's been ravaged by injuries. Erik McCoy and Ethan Greenridge are both on IR, while Andrus Peat has already missed three games and is questionable for Sunday's contest.

The Saints could use all the help they can get in Week 12. New Orleans is an 8.5-point underdog against San Francisco, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
