New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen is in the middle of filling out his staff before the offseason ramps up. Allen has held interviews for both offensive and defensive coordinator, but some concerns popped up when a questionable name came in to discuss the OC job.

Allen has thankfully gone in different diretcion for his offensive coordinator.

Saints Offensive Coordinator

Allen will retain Pete Carmichael and keep him in the same position he's held since 2009 for New Orleans.

This re-hiring definitely makes sense. Allen was an in-house candidate himself, earning a promotion for DC to head coach following Sean Payton's departure, so this team believes in its continuity. Bringing back Carmichael follows that same philosophy.

Carmichael has certainly proven he can help the offense succeed when the pieces are there. The Saints' have ranked in the top 10 for both total yards and points 11 out of 13 seasons with Carmichael as OC.

Payton deserves some of the credit there, but Carmichael's experience working with a top-rated offense makes him the perfect candidate to round out Allen's staff.
