The Kansas City Royals were dealing with a bit of a scare when Salvador Perez was hit by a pitch on Saturday night. Thankfully, though, X-rays have reportedly come back negative, which is obviously a great development for the All-Star catcher.

Perez has had an up-and-down start to the 2022 season. While he's got an AL-best 5 home runs, the catcher is only hitting .234, representing a big decline from the 2021 season, when he hit .273 with 48 home runs and 121 RBI. He's also only drawn 2 walks in 51 at-bats this year. On the bright side, the power is still clearly there.
It doesn't sound like Perez is looking at a lengthy absence, so hopefully he can get things back on track soon.
Still, with Perez likely sitting Sunday's game out, Kansas City is a +164 underdog against the Seattle Mariners.
