After the MLB's trade deadline came and went, Colorado Rockies fans rejoiced that their biggest remaining star Trevor Story stayed at home. Their All-Star shortstop is still approaching unrestricted free agency but Colorado fans have hope that he'll stay in Denver long term.
On Wednesday, however, Story underwent an injury scare during Colorado's doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs. The two-time All-Star was removed when Game 2 went to extra innings after suffering an unknown injury.
Rockies manager Bud Black updated the media on Story's status following the game, and it appears the Rockies can breathe a sigh of relief.
Trevor Story Injury Update
According to Black, Story aggravated a leg injury he's been dealing with, but the slugging shorstop maintains he "thins he'll be fine."
Time will tell if Story is set to miss any of Colorado's upcoming games as the team heads to Los Angeles for a 3-game set with the Dodgers on Friday.
On the year, Story is slashing .246/.323/.448 with 16 home runs and 58 RBIs. It's been sort of a down year from his batting average perspective, but Story is still a career .272/.340/.522 hitter who averages 34 home runs and 98 RBIs across 162 games.
Colorado remains on the outside looking in for the MLB postseason race with a 10.5-game deficit in the Wild Card race.
