3 Best Remaining Rob Gronkowski Free-Agent Destinations in 2022
By Larry Rupp

Veteran tight end Rob Gronkowski showed he still has some gas left in the tank by racking up 802 yards and 6 touchdowns on 55 receptions in 2021 (12 games). The 32-year-old remains a free agent and is likely looking to join a true contender in order to secure what would be his fifth Super Bowl ring.
A number of NFL teams should be interested in signing a five-time Pro Bowler to a short-term deal as a way to bring a spark to the offense. Having depth at the TE position cannot be taken for granted. With that in mind, here are three of the most likely free agent designations for the Gronkowski.
Rob Gronkowski Free Agency
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A reunion with long-time quarterback and friend Tom Brady in Tampa Bay is still the most likely scenario here. Gronkowski thrived with the Buccaneers over the last two seasons, playing in over 75% of the offensive snaps during that span. Head coach Bruce Arians knows how to utilize the 11-year pro in a way that takes advantage of his strengths. Of course, it helps that Tampa Bay does not have much competition in the NFC South. Another division title seems to be on the horizon. Seeing Gronkowski return to a team in which he averages 50.1 yards per game with makes a lot of sense.
2. Buffalo Bills
Keep an eye on the Buffalo Bills if Gronkowski decides to sign somewhere other than Tampa Bay. Starting TE Dawson Knox scored 9 touchdowns in 2021, but still only racked up 587 yards. Meanwhile, Gronkowski has tallied at least 623 yards in each of his last four seasons. His ability to break tackles over the middle of the field would fit right in on one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NFL. Providing quarterback Josh Allen with as many offensive weapons as possible should be a top priority for the Bills. Who knows, maybe Gronkowski also likes the idea of playing the New England Patriots twice a year.
3. Las Vegas Raiders
It's important not to overlook the connection Gronkowski has with new Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels. The two spent a ton of time together in New England and Gronkowski had some of the best seasons of his career playing in McDaniels' system. It was a system that regularly deployed two TEs in 12-personnel. Using that same strategy with Pro Bowler Darren Waller could pay off in a huge way for Las Vegas. Other teams in the AFC West have been constantly improving and signing Gronkowski would be a great way to keep up. Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, Waller & Gronkowski would make for a daunting passing attack.
