The Cincinnati Reds are fighting to stay in the playoff race and currently sit 5.0 games back in the NL Central division with a record of 38-37. The Reds' powerful offense has been carrying the team so far and they should get another consistent hitter back soon in infielder Max Schrock.

Max Schrock Injury Update

Cincinnati is sending Schrock on a rehab assignment down in Triple-A as he inches closer to a return to the major leagues. He originally suffered a calf injury earlier this month that has caused him to be on the injured list for the entirety of June. His reliability at the plate and in the field was definitely missed.

Schrock has only played in 12 games for the Reds this season, but he has made an immediate impact racking up 8 hits in 30 at-bats. Overall, he has posted 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. The 26-year-old was starting at second base nearly every day before going down.

The Reds have seemed to hover around a .500 record all month and need things to turn around quickly before they fall too far behind. Cincinnati currently has odds set at +600 to win the NL Central and odds set at +6500 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
