Everything's coming up roses for the Boston Red Sox lately. They've jumped out to first place in the AL East after winning 10 of their last 11 games, and injured ace Chris Sale has been making progress in his recovery.

Sale is close to hitting another milestone on his path to a return.

Chris Sale Injury Update

The 32-year-old lefty is scheduled for one final live BP in Fort Myers on Tuesday. Should things go smoothly, he'll be headed for a rehab assignment in the minors. That's extremely encouraging news and could mean he'll be back in the rotation by sometime in August.

Sale last pitched in August 2019, but he had a career-worst season and underwent Tommy John surgery in March 2020. Still, he was a perennial All-Star and Cy Young candidate from 2012-2018, so getting him back at 100% will be a huge boost for the Sox as they look to make a postseason run.

The Red Sox own the AL's best record at 54-32 to this point. Thanks to an explosive offense and solid rotation, Boston is tied for the sixth-best odds (+1400) to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
