While much of Major League Baseball awaits a decision from Aaron Judge and/or the start if the Winter Meetings, the Boston Red Sox signed an addition to their bullpen on Wednesday when they inked Joely Rodriguez to a one-year deal.
Rodriguez spent the last season with the Mets, but didn't do much to impress. He pitched to. 2-4 record and 4.47 ERA in 50.1 innings out of the Mets bullpen.
Nevertheless, Rodriguez has shown potential and is still only 31 years old. He was very effective for the Texas Rangers in 2020 with a 2.13 ERA and for the Yankees in 2021 with a 2.84 ERA, albeit in just 12.2 and 19.0 innings, respectively.
Boston surely ins't done this offseason, and adding a solid lefty arm to the bullpen is always a good sign, but that won't do much in helping them get out of the bottom of the AL East without some other major changes.
