While another Tampa Bay Rays rookie, Randy Arozarena, may take home the AL Rookie of the Year award, the arrival of Wander Franco cannot be ignored.
Franco has been brilliant in the first 62 games of his MLB career, so his recent stint on the injured list was a gut-punch for Tampa Bay. The Rays are on cruise control thanks to their clinched postseason berth and 6.0-game lead in the AL East, but Franco has been missed.
However, the Rays received some great news on Friday when Franco was activated off the injured list and reinstated just in time for postseason baseball.
Wander Franco Injury Update
Franco heads back to the Trop after a 12-game absence and looks to continue his impressive 39-game on-base streak.
He's been brilliant, despite the small sample size, since being called up from the Minor Leagues in late June. Across 62 games, Franco is slashing .285/.347/.463 with 4 triples, 15 doubles, 7 home runs, 36 RBIs and 22 walks in just 271 plate appearances.
The Rays head into the postseason with a championship in their sights. Currently, Tampa Bay owns the third-best odds (+600) to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
