Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman continued a bad string of injury luck on Sunday. Head Coach John Harbaugh revealed on Monday that his second-year wideout could be out for a couple of weeks thanks to an ongoing foot issue.
Unfortunately, that news took a turn for the worse on Thursday.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported Bateman is set to undergo season-ending Lisfranc surgery. The second-year wideout appeared in just six games this season, and firmly ranks third on the team with 28 targets, 15 receptions and 285 yards.
Bateman missed the first five games of his rookie campaign thanks to a preseason groin issue. He then went on to make four starts, and haul in 46 receptions for 515 yards and 1 score.
Last year's strong finish led many to believe the former No. 27 overall pick could be in for a breakout campaign this season. Instead, Bateman deals with another season cut short by injuries.
Devin Duvernay is poised to see a bigger role as he steps into the true No. 1 WR role on the roster. It'll be interesting to see if DeSean Jackson is activated from the Ravens practice squad in Bateman's absence. Baltimore added defense instead of additional offensive firepower at the recent trade deadline.
For now, the Ravens hold +1400 odds to win Super Bowl 57 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
