Rangers Make Exciting New Coaching Hire

The Texas Rangers have been busy revamping the coaching staff this offseason following their disappointing 60-102 finish in 2021. Reports already revealed the hiring of a new farm system director (Josh Bonifay) and now the offense is gaining a boost.
MLB insider Jeff Passan reported the Rangers will hire Donnie Ecker as their new bench coach and offensive coordinator.
Donnie Ecker is joining the Texas Rangers in a bench coach/offensive coordinator role, sources tell ESPN. Ecker is seen around the industry as a rising star, and players with San Francisco, where he worked the last two seasons, rave about him. Ecker, 35, was drafted by Texas.

Ecker is one of the most highly sought-after young coaches in baseball. He's spent the last two seasons working as hitting coach for the San Francisco Giants, baseball's best regular-season team in 2021.
Texas is in desperate need of an offensive jolt. By contrast, Texas finished 28th in baseball scoring just 3.86 runs per game. San Francisco was the sixth-best offense in baseball at 4.96 runs per game.
Ecker is no stranger to the Rangers organization. He was selected by Texas in the 22nd round of the 2007 MLB Draft before calling his player career quits in 2012.
