The Texas Rangers made the biggest splash of the offseason prior to the lockout when they signed All-Star infielders Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. It's a change of tune and identity for a franchise that hasn't made the playoffs in five seasons.

ESPN just released their post-lockout offseason predictions and has the Rangers continuing this offseason spending splurge, projecting Texas to bid for another pair of All-Stars.

The projections see Texas landing another Los Angeles Dodgers star in Clayton Kershaw and then doubling down by signing New York Mets slugger Michael Conforto.

Rangers Free Agency

This offseason marks Kershaw's first shot at free agency following 14 years with the Dodgers. But, one of his teammates now plays in Texas and that's enough of a connection to stir the rumor mill. While most projections see two fits for Kershaw, either the Rangers or staying in LA, this ESPN prediction thinks it's time for a change of scenery.

Texas still has almost $93 million in luxury cap space and the pre-Lockout moves show this team is ready to spend. Conforto is another solid addition to shore up the outfield depth as he averages 28 home runs and 85 RBIs per 162 games in his seven-year career.

This team that ranked 28th in runs scored and 24th in runs allowed would have a whole different attitude next season if Kershaw and Conforto join the roster. Currently, the Rangers hold just +7500 odds to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
