Projected Julio Jones Trade Package is Bad News for Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons will look to have a bounce-back season in 2021, but the team's offseason has been dominated by trade rumors involving veteran wide receiver Julio Jones. The 32-year-old playmaker could be moved as the team looks to get younger moving forward.
However, a hypothetical trade package for Jones put together by ProFootballFocus is bad news for the Falcons. It has the five-time All-Pro being traded for a pair of mid-round picks and a swap of fifth-round picks. That is certainly not the kind of value Atlanta would be hoping to get.

Projected Julio Jones Trade Package
Although Jones is in the back half of his career, he seems to be far from done being a dominant pass-catcher. The seven-time Pro Bowler is averaging 96.5 yards per game over the last three seasons and was on pace for 1,371 yards in 2020 before getting hurt. In fact, he led the league with 1,677 receiving yards just three years ago in 2018.
Those kind of numbers need to draw a much bigger package for it to be worth it for the Falcons. With an aging quarterback in Matt Ryan, a short rebuilding era may be closer than Atlanta wants to think it is. While the Falcons need more youth on the roster, trading Jones is a massive decision.
All things considered, the former No. 6 overall pick has spent all 10 of his NFL seasons in Atlanta. There is an argument to be made that Jones' value will only keep going lower, but the fact that it may already be that low is a major blow to the Falcons' organization.
