Dark Horse Picks to Win Rocket Mortgage Classic
Matthew Wolff (+2800):
Matthew Wolff placed T-15 at the U.S. Open less than two weeks ago, in the most elite field golf has to offer. Now, he comes back to Detroit Golf Club against a far weaker field, and for a tournament he came close to winning last year. Wolff put up an impressive 20-under par card over four days in 2020 to finish second. Expect him to be in contention again in 2021.
Rickie Fowler (+4300):
Fowler hasn't exactly been through the best stretch of his career in recent seasons, but he still has the talent to win a tournament any given week. In fact, he has a T-8 and T-11 finish in two of his last three starts, including the PGA Championship which had a far more elite field than this event. When it comes to Detroit Golf Club, Fowler actually placed 12th here in 2020, so he clearly has proven he can play well on this course.
Doc Redman (+6000):
Doc Redman has quietly had a strong recent showing, grabbing a top-10 and top-five finish in his last five starts. He also has a very solid resume at Detroit Country Club. He finished 21st and 2nd here the last two years, respectively. His only two career appearances in the Rocket Mortgage Challenge. He placed T-2 at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree two weeks ago in a very similar field.
