Patrick Mahomes had a second quarter for the ages in Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders. After the Chiefs went without a first-quarter score, they trailed 10-0 in Oakland. Then, Mahomes and the KC offense went off – scoring on four straight drives and racking up 278 yards through the air. All four of their second-quarter drives ended with touchdown passes from Mahomes.

That was enough to put the Chiefs up 28-10 going into the half – a score that stuck as that was also the game's final score.

Mahomes literally did all of his damage in one extremely efficient quarter. The third-year phenom was a remarkable 18-for-26 in the second frame, passing for 278 yards, four TDs and a 149.5 passer rating. Mahomes now has seven touchdowns and zero interceptions through two games.

By comparison, Derek Carr, Kirk Cousins, Jameis Winston, Cam Newton and Mitchell Trubisky have combined to throw six touchdowns against nine picks through Week 2 this season.

Midway though Sunday's action, Mahomes had put up more fantasy points than each of those five QBs had racked up in the entire 2019 season.

It's safe to say that anyone who spent an early-round pick on Mahomes in fantasy football is likely feeling pretty good about that decision. With two top QBs in Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger going down with injuries, along with the many aforementioned struggling QBs, the old fantasy adage that you can wait on a QB might have to be thrown out the window as long as Mahomes remains as dominant as he has been.

We'll have to wait and see if he can keep up this pace against the Baltimore Ravens defense this coming Sunday at Arrowhead.
