Christian MCCaffrey and the Carolina Panthers have both gotten off to slow starts in 2022. The Panthers record sits at 1-2, while McCaffrey hasn't looked like his usual self out there.

While both the Panthers and head coach Matt Rhule have their backs up against the wall, McCaffrey's status for Week 4 and beyond could be bringing even more trouble to Carolina.

The star running back sat out of practice on Wednesday ahead of their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. And the outlook isn't exactly comforting, with the team reportedly being a little more worried this time around about his potential quad injury than they were previously.

There has been no officially word on McCaffrey's chances of playing this Sunday, and as mentioned, it's not the first time he's dealt with an injury this year, but ultimately he has suited up every game thus far.

We will have to keep a close eye on this situation, especially as a bettor or fantasy manager of McCaffrey. It seems like while this could be more serious than previous injuries this season, he's not being ruled out of playing just yet.

Carolina opened as a 1.5-point home favorite against Arizona, but McCaffrey's status for that contest could surely alter that line if he ends up not being able to play.
