The Green Bay Packers officially kick off training camp on Wednesday with their first practice. Fans are buzzing with anticipation as they get their initial look at a roster that underwent major changes on offense this season.
Unfortunately the Packer faithful won't get to see rookie wide receiver Christian Watson right away due a mysterious injury.
Green Bay GM Brian Gutekunst told reporters prior to Wednesday's practice that Watson is expected to miss some of training camp due some type of issue. He wouldn't reveal what the injury is, or any kind of timeline for the rookie's return, though it doesn't appear to be anything too serious right now.
Even if it doesn't prevent Watson from regular-season games, this news is still disappointing and a potential setback. He'll be missing key reps with the entire team to start the preseason period off, and there's the potential for him to miss some exhibition contests in the lead up to Week 1, which will hurt him as he adjusts to the speed of the NFL.
Hopefully Watson is able to get over whatever issue is bothering him quickly and take the field for some preseason action before his rookie year.
