April 2, 2004 was a very long time ago. Facebook had only been founded two months prior, and Twitter was about two years from its inception. Tom Brady had just two Super Bowl wins to his name. Current UFC champion Brandon Moreno was 10 years old.
That's also the last time Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler fought. And now they're scheduled for a rematch, 6,384 days later.
Diaz is making his UFC against former UFC Welterweight champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 266 on October 30, 2021.
FanDuel Sportsbook has posted opening odds for the fight.
Diaz vs Lawler II Odds
Robbie Lawler has opened as a -136 favorite against Nick Diaz, who is a +116 underdog at UFC 266 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Lawler is on a four-fight losing streak, most recently dropping a unanimous decision to Neil Magny in August, 2020. With that losing streak, his most recent win came on July 29, 2017 against Donald Cerrone.
Despite his recent struggles, he still has a10-7 record since Diaz last won a fight on October 29, 2011.
Diaz knocked Lawler out in that first meeting in 2004, but he lost three straight fights between 2012 and 2015 before entering what appeared to be retirement.
Overall Diaz boasts a better professional record (26-9, 13 knockouts 8 submissions) than Lawler (28-15, 20 knockouts), though Diaz has never held a UFC championship.
