NFL Futures Odds Favor Patriots, Chiefs and Saints to Make 2019 Postseason

Now that the 2019 NFL Draft has come to an end, we have a pretty good understanding of what each team looks like heading into the upcoming season.

With most rosters resembling the team that will take the field in Week 1, there are only three teams that are considered odds-on favorites to win their respective division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook – the defending champion New England Patriots at -700 to win the AFC East, the Kansas City Chiefs at -165 in the AFC West and the New Orleans Saints have -230 odds to take the NFC South crown.

The Patriots are easily the heaviest division favorite, but considering New England has won the AFC East 10 years in a row, this hardly comes as a surprise. The Pats will likely take a step back at some point, but looking at these odds, it doesn't look like that's happening this season.

New England's primary competition to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl is the Chiefs, the only other AFC team favored to win their division (-165). Having a talent like Patrick Mahomes at quarterback will likely make Kansas City perennial contenders for years to come. If Mahomes somehow takes another step forward in 2019, it wouldn't be a shock to see the Chiefs knock off the Patriots.

As for the NFC, the Saints are the only team favored to win their division with -230 odds to win their third straight NFC South title. New Orleans was arguably one missed call away from going to the Super Bowl last season, and it looks like they could make another run here.

Of note, as of posting, there were no odds available on FanDuel Sportsbook for the NFC West winner and the Los Angeles Rams are the likely favorites to take that division, after falling short in the Super Bowl last season. The Rams have the fourth-best odds to win Super Bowl 54 at +900.

With just three teams being odds-on favorites to win their divisions, we could see a new crop of teams in the postseason come the 2019 NFL Playoffs.
