NFL Draft Odds Strongly Link Steelers to Selecting QB in First Round

The Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation was flipped on its head when Ben Roethlisberger retired at the beginning of the offseason. They did go out and sign Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year deal, but he's more of a stop-gap than the QB of the future.
Fortunately, the 2022 NFL Draft is a few weeks away, giving the Steelers some options for future help. However, this year's class has been criticized for not having a superstar standout quarterback available.
Even if this isn't the strongest quarterback class, the latest draft odds on FanDuel Sportsbook strongly link Pittsburgh to select a QB later this month. They do have the No. 20 pick in Round 1, so there could be truth behind these odds.
Malik Willis NFL Draft Odds
As it stands, the Steelers own the second-best odds (+350) to select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis at the 2022 NFL Draft, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Although he isn't ready for the NFL just yet, some experts see him as having the highest upside due to his natural talent. His college stats weren't too bad either as one of the top dual-threats, recording 5,107 passing yards and 47 passing touchdowns, as well as 878 rushing yards and 13 TDs in 2021.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has made it clear that the organization loves Willis, but they're unsure if he'll be available at No. 20. In other words, if they think they can realistically move up to draft him, there's a good chance that Pittsburgh will pursue that deal.
Kenny Pickett NFL Draft Odds
If Willis isn't the way to go, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Steelers tied with the New Orleans Saints for the third-best odds (+400) to select Pittsburgh Panthers QB Kenny Pickett at the 2022 NFL Draft.
Pickett has spent the last five seasons with the Panthers and the 2021 campaign was his best. He completed 334 passes for 4,319 passing yards and 42 touchdowns to just seven interceptions, earning him first-team All-American honors for the first time in his career.
Pickett is seen as the most NFL-ready QB in the draft by many experts, making him primed to takeover if Trubisky falters at any point. The fact that he attended college in the same city makes him a local hero that Steelers fans can get behind for the foreseeable future.
The 2022 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 28 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
