New York Jets Training Camp Cuts
The Jets announced that three players were released in to get down to Tuesday's 85-man limit: safety Bennett Jackson, defensive lineman Michael Dwumfour and running back Austin Walter. Selected in the sixth round back in 2014, Jackson has had a tough time cracking an NFL roster, playing just 10 games (zero starts) since then and was unimpressive with the Jets last year.
The news certainly is sad for Walter, who was cut on his birthday. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has bounced around the NFL and even had an XFL stint after going undrafted in 2019. The most surprising of the three cuts is likely Dwumfour, who had a fumble recovery, one tackle and half a sack in the Jets victory over the Giants. Unfortunately, he also suffered a calf injury in the contest, which made him expendable.
