The NBA season moves on into the second month of action and we're seeing some improved play on the basketball court. A number of players on the NBA Most Improved Player list are piling up some solid stats. But FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds for the award is a two-man race between Houston Rockets forward Christian Wood (+125) and Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant (+145).

The Most Improved Player is often the NBA’s most difficult award to predict. Should the award be given to the player who is most improved from last season to the current one? Or is more value given to a players rise from his potential to fulfilment?

The two favorites are leaving little doubt in their improved play from a season ago and fulfilling their potential.

Christian Wood is playing for his sixth team in five seasons. The lean 6-foot 10 UNLV product has found his home in Houston in a breakout season. Wood is scoring 23.5 points per game and pulling down 10.8 rebounds per game. He's been productive in all 15 games he's appeared in, scoring at least 18 points in each contest and only dipping below 20 points once.

Wood is on the floor more than 33 minutes per game, and he's also doubled his 3-point production, hitting nearly two shots from beyond the arc per contest. Those stats are all career highs.

Jerami Grant is with his fourth team and first season with the Detroit Pistons. Grant has doubled his production from last year's stats with Denver. The seventh-year pro is scoring 24.4 points and grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game. Grant is also taking a career high 6.6 three-pointers per game and his free throw shooting (87.2%) is adding to his scoring with more than 5 points per game from the charity stripe.

Wood and Grant will battle for the Most Improved Player, and here are the FanDuel Sportsbook odds and other players to watch.
