NBA DFS 3/31/2022

Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Thursday, 3/31, NBA DFS action.

FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 3/31

Joel Embiid Fantasy

Target Joel Embiid, C, Philadelphia 76ers ($11,500): Joel Embiid enters Thursday's contest boasting a streak of four straight games with at least 27 points and 10 rebounds. The MVP contender draws a prime matchup to keep things going in the Detroit Pistons. Detroit gives up the 10th-most opponent PPG and seventh-most RPG, setting the stage for Embiid to fill up the stat sheet. He should end his scorching March on a high note against a defense allowing the sixth-highest opponent effective field goal percentage (eFG%) in the league.

Donovan Mitchell Fantasy

Target Donovan Mitchell, SG/PG, Utah Jazz ($8,100): Donovan Mitchell will hope to end the Utah Jazz's five-game losing skid with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. Mitchell continues to shoulder the scoring load, putting up 30-plus points in five of his last seven games. His current hot stretch puts him in great position to feast against a Lakers squad down both LeBron James and Anthony Davis. LA is already giving up the fourth-most PPG this season, so Mitchell could go berserk with their top two defenders sidelined.

Stanley Johnson Fantasy

Target Stanley Johnson, SF, Los Angeles Lakers ($4,500): Stanley Johnson is in position to serve as LeBron James' replacement once again in the starting lineup, making him an excellent value target at this price. Johnson drew the start last time out with James sidelined, posting 32.5 fantasy points in 34 minutes. He did a little bit of everything -- recording 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal -- which showcases his potential to produce across the board without James and Davis on the floor. Utah's usually strong defense is also in a rut right now, allowing 116.2 PPG during their five-game losing streak. Johnson has an opportunity to take advantage of here.

Cade Cunningham Fantasy

Avoid Cade Cunningham, PG/SG, Detroit Pistons ($8,200): After post impressive numbers against lesser or injured competition recently, Cade Cunningham should come back down to earth tonight. The Philadelphia 76ers tout one of the best defenses in the league, owning a top-10 defensive rating and holding opponents to the eighth-lowest eFG%. Philadelphia also limits teams to the fourth-fewest assists per game, which is a major source of Cunningham's fantasy upside (5.6 APG) given his only decent scoring average (17.4 PPG). These teams are on opposite sides of the standings and there's a good chance Cunningham has his night cut short if things get out of hand quickly.

Zach LaVine Fantasy

Avoid Zach LaVine, SG, Chicago Bulls ($7,700): Zach LaVine is currently playing through a knee injury that clearly limited him last time out. LaVine was questionable heading into that matchup, and he ended the night with just 17.3 fantasy points despite facing the lowly Washington Wizards. Now he draws a Los Angeles Clippers squad teeming with life following the return of Paul George, who'll make things even more difficult for LaVine on the perimeter. The Clippers rank eighth in defensive rating, so it's best to avoid LaVine in a less-than-ideal matchup.
