NBA DFS 10/22/2021
Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Friday, 10/22, NBA DFS action.
FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 10/22
Domantas Sabonis Fantasy
Target Domantas Sabonis, PF/C, Indiana Pacers ($9,700): The Indiana Pacers' offense predictably ran through Domantas Sabonis to open the season. Sabonis racked up 48.0 FanDuel fantasy points after notching 33 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists. Six turnovers from the big man cut into his performance, but that also showcases Sabonis' role as a playmaker in this offense. He now gets an attractive matchup against the Washington Wizards. Sabonis averaged 32.3 points, 14.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists in three regular season games against them last year.
LaMelo Ball Fantasy
Target LaMelo Ball, PG, Charlotte Hornets ($8,200): LaMelo Ball torched the Pacers to begin the year, totaling 56.3 FanDuel fantasy points. Ball made his usual all-around impact, putting up 31 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals in just 29 minutes. He's in great position for a similar outing against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who just surrendered 132 points to the Memphis Grizzlies. Terry Rozier is also questionable for this matchup, which means Ball could have the rock in his hands even more than usual.
Andre Drummond Fantasy
Target Andre Drummond, C, Philadelphia 76ers ($5,300): Andre Drummond was productive off of the bench for the Philadelphia 76ers in their first game. Drummond recorded 6 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals in 19 minutes of action. The big man is in a favorable position as the direct backup to Joel Embiid with little competition for those minutes at center. Embiid is notably questionable for Friday's game with knee soreness. Drummond proved he can make an impact role player-level minutes, and he could prove to be steal at his current price if he draws the start.
Russell Westbrook Fantasy
Avoid Russell Westbrook, PG/SG, Los Angeles Lakers ($9,100): Russell Westbrook could turn out to be a pricey dud on Friday. His Lakers debut was quiet by his standards, failing to hit double digits in all three major stats while managing just 16 FanDuel fantasy points. Westbrook's path to racking up huge assist numbers isn't as clear as usual with LeBron James and Rajon Rondo both outpacing the former MVP in assists to start the year. It'll take time for Westbrook to settle into his new role, so he's an avoid against a Phoenix Suns defense that was top 10 in defensive rating last season.
Lonzo Ball Fantasy
Avoid Lonzo Ball, PG, Chicago Bulls ($6,400): Lonzo Ball didn't get off to the greatest start with his new team, either. Ball put up a modest 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists as Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic combined for 66 points, 24 rebounds and 10 assists. There's a ton of mouths to feed in this offense, and Ball appeared to play fourth fiddle to begin the year. Give him time to settle into a new role before trusting him in your lineups.
