This would be Gobert's third Defensive Player of the Year award after winning in 2018 and 2019. He finished the regular season with 13.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. His 2.7 blocks leads the league while 13.5 rebounds ranks second. Gobert's defensive performance in terms of points allowed per 100 possessions was No. 1, according to FiveThirtyEight's Defensive RAPTOR rating.
Gobert's presence impacts the game in so many ways. In helping lead the Jazz to the best record in the NBA (52-20 overall), the 7-foot 1 defensive star often forces ball handlers to adjust their way of play and find new ways to attack. His size and strength allows him to be one of the best at protecting the rim.
