NBA Championship Odds Favor Clippers Over Lakers and Bucks as Training Camp Approaches

This time of the year is typically dominated by college football and the NFL. It's one of the few times that the NBA takes a true back seat in the sports world. However, while that might apply to the average fan, it doesn't necessarily apply to the betting world.
And it's the Los Angeles Clippers, a team that seemingly "won" the offseason by adding Kawhi Leonard in free agency and Paul George via trade, that are also having a huge summer at the sportsbook. They now sit as the leaders in the clubhouse at +330 odds to win the 2019-20 NBA championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, after opening with +1600 odds to take home the title.

Their across-the-hall rivals aren't too far behind. The Los Angeles Lakers had arguably just as impactful a summer by acquiring Anthony Davis via trade to pair with LeBron James, and they have the second-best odds to win the NBA Finals at +440. The two LA squads face off on NBA opening night, Oct. 22.

The two teams in LA aren't too far ahead of the rest of the pack with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks sitting at +550 and the Philadelphia 76ers (+850) and the Houston Rockets (+950) coming in at less than 10-to-1 odds. The Utah Jazz (+1200), Golden State Warriors (+1400), Denver Nuggets (+1900), Brooklyn Nets (+2300) and Boston Celtics (+2700) round out the top 10.
With eight weeks left before the NBA season even kicks off, these odds are sure to make moves during the lead up to opening night.
