Veteran forward Rudy Gay continues to make an impact even in the later stage of his career. The 34-year-old averaged a solid 11.4 points and 4.8 rebounds for the San Antonio Spurs this season and shot 38.1% from beyond the arc.

Gay should have suitors as he heads into unrestricted free agency. Here are three likely landing spots for the veteran this summer.

Rudy Gay Free Agency

3. San Antonio Spurs

Let's start with the obvious. Its possible Gay decides to re-up with San Antonio and run it back. He's been a consistent presence for this team over the last four years and they may want to keep the vet around. He shouldn't cost that much to re-sign, which will give the Spurs a rotation piece without cutting into their precious cap space. With Gay, DeMar DeRozan and Patty Mills all UFAs this offseason, San Antonio will likely want to retain at least one of those veterans to lead this otherwise young squad. It's not hard to see Gay closing out his career as a Spur.

2. Miami Heat

It's also possible Gay looks to win a ring before he retires, and he could take a discount this summer to do so. If that's the case, the Miami Heat make a lot of sense. Miami's wing talent behind Jimmy Butler could be on the move this offseason with Victor Oladipo, Trevor Ariza and Duncan Robinson headed for free agency. Gay fits the mold of an impactful player on a veteran minimum who'd take less money to play a role on a championship team. The forward's scoring hasn't fallen off even as he approaches 35 years old and he still provides solid rebounding as well. He wouldn't command a ton of minutes but is fully capable of contributing on a team with Finals aspirations.

1. Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers will be another team looking to find players on vet minimum deals to fill out a championship-hopeful roster again in 2021-22. They could also face a similar departure of wings with Patrick Patterson and Nicolas Batum headed for free agency. Gay could slot in perfectly as a scorer and rebounder on the second unit, providing a stable presence while Paul George and Kawhi Leonard sit. With both of those players also missing notable time during the 2020-21 campaign, it'd be smart for LA to get a veteran wing capable of stepping up if needed. Gay is the exact kind of veteran role player the Clippers covet on affordable deals to complement their stars.
