Mike Trout Reveals Timeline for Return to Angels Lineup

The Los Angeles Angels finally gave their fans something to cheer about on Thursday night when they snapped a 14-game losing streak in a 5-2 win. They were able to do so without star player Mike Trout, who recently revealed his return to the lineup is right around the corner.

Trout has been sidelined for two days after exiting against the Boston Red Sox with tightness in his groin. Since then, the 30-year-old has been undergoing treatment and told reporters that he is "very confident it's getting better." Trout even took some swings in the batting cage on Thursday.

As of right now, the plan is to have Trout back in the lineup on Friday night against the New York Mets. Of course, he will first go through his pregame routine and test to make sure he is 100% ready to go. Fans can take a sigh of relief considering a stint on the injured list can realistically be ruled out.

Trout has been one of the few bright spots on an Angels squad that is only averaging 4.36 runs per game this season (No. 17 in MLB). The three-time MVP leads the team with 14 home runs, 39 runs scored, 27 walks and 14 doubles. Overall, Trout is slashing .284/.388/.601 across 52 games played.

The Angels' lineup card should be released a few hours prior to the 9:38 p.m. ET scheduled first pitch on Friday night. For now, LA sits 2.5 games back of the final AL Wild Card spot and has odds set at +3500 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
