Pittsburgh Steelers fans received worrying news this week when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday and Friday's practices. Fortunately, head coach Mike Tomlin had some good news on the veteran signal-caller's Week 9 status.

Ben Roethlisberg Injury Update

Tomlin told reporters Saturday morning that Roethlisberger is still expected to suit up against the Chicago Bears in this week's Monday Night Football matchup. He also added that the Steelers will still monitor the situation.

"Ben's playing [on Monday], it's just things to manage. He's been doing it a long time, I've been doing it a long time. We generally do a good job communicating and managing such things. You should anticipate him playing."

It's been a bumpy year for Roethlisberger as he's dealt with shoulder and hip issues throughout the 2021 NFL season. Keeping that in mind, he's completed 65.1% of his passes in that span for 1,781 yards and 8 touchdowns to 4 interceptions through Pittsburgh's first seven games.

Although the six-time Pro Bowler isn't the player that he once was, Roethlisberger has the Steelers on a three-game winning streak. He's been making mistake-free passes in that stretch and has not thrown an interception since Week 4.

Pittsburgh will look for its fourth straight win when it plays Chicago on MNF. As it stands, the Steelers are 6-point favorites over the Bears, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
