The New York Mets find themselves in first place in the NL East division with a record of 21-20 despite being suffering a ton of injuries to the roster. One way to make sure the team has the depth to compete for a playoff spot is by making some trades ahead of the MLB deadline in July.

The Mets have proven before that they are not afraid to make big deals, which puts them in contention for almost every trade candidate out there this season. With that in mind, here are three players the Mets should trade for.

New York Mets Trade Targets

1. Tanner Scott, Relief Pitcher

The Mets have posted the sixth-best bullpen ERA so far this season (3.62), but having depth at that spot on the roster is never a bad idea. Tanner Scott has been stellar for the Baltimore Orioles this season and could give the Mets another reliever capable of hitting 100 mph. Scott has racked up 23 strikeouts through 18.1 innings pitched and has a 3.93 ERA on the season. He needs to decrease the amount of walks he gives up, but Scott would be a great piece to add for a Mets' playoff run.

2. Adam Frazier, Utility

Injuries across the board have hurt the Mets offensive lineup in more ways than one. They need to be looking for players that can both produce at the plate and play great defense on the field. Pittsburgh's Adam Frazier fits that bill and could be relatively cheap to trade for given the Pirates are going through a rebuild. The 29-year-old hits arbitration after this season and has been off to a great start. Frazier has a slash line of .335/.396/.462 and leads all of MLB with 61 hits. Plus, his ability to play multiple positions would come in handy for this Mets squad.

3. Kris Bryant, Third Base

After making a huge deal to acquire Francisco Lindor last offseason, it's possible the Mets go all in again by trading for star third baseman Kris Bryant. The current Chicago Cub would give the team an immediate upgrade at third base and a powerful hitter in the middle of the lineup. Bryant has racked up 32 runs scored, 10 home runs and 28 RBIs through his first 43 games this season. This would undoubtedly be an expensive deal to make, but the Mets do have a number of minor leaguers that rank within the top 100 MLB prospects. This would be a massive, but smart move by the Mets.
