The New York Mets are trying to pull away in the National League East division as they currently sit in first place with a record of 45-38, 4.0 games up on the Philadelphia Phillies. They have been successful despite suffering injuries across the roster this season. Thankfully, it looks like Brandon Nimmo's latest one was just a scare.

Brandon Nimmo Injury Update

The Mets were rained out on Thursday night, but manager Luis Rojas told reporters that Nimmo would not have played anyways due to left shoulder soreness. He explained that the injury occurred during a diving catch Nimmo made in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Fortunately, Rojas also said that Nimmo would've been an option off the bench. That means that this is nothing substantial and that the 28-year-old outfielder is simply day-to-day right now. No tests were done and Nimmo hopes to be back in the lineup on either Friday or Saturday night.

Nimmo has already missed two months of action this season due to a finger injury. The Mets need his consistency in the lineup as he is hitting .330/.422/.443 this season through 27 games played. Overall, the six-year pro has racked up 12 runs scored, 1 home run, 11 RBI and 2 stolen bases.

The Mets will look to keep their momentum going and secure a postseason berth for the first time since 2016. They currently have odds set at -260 to win the NL East and odds set at +900 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
