No Jacob deGrom? No problem for the New York Mets, as they're off to one of the hottest starts in baseball. They're also getting plenty of recognition for this early-season tear, receiving a massive jump in the latest ESPN MLB power rankings.

The Mets have surged from No. 8 in last week's rankings to No. 2 this week, trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Mets are getting it done on both sides of the ball. Even without deGrom they own the fourth-best ERA in baseball at 2.56. That includes an MLB-best 2.08 from their starters. The advanced stats back that success up as well, ranking second with a stellar 2.55 FIP.

Offensively, nobody ranks higher in FanGraphs' offensive runs above average (OFF) metric than the Mets. They're also tied for third in wRC+ and tied for the league lead in on-base percentage.

At this point, you have to start to wonder just how much more the Mets need to do before they jump the Dodgers for the top spot. Because that's starting to look like a real possibility.

Despite this incredible run to start the year, FanDuel Sportsbook's World Series odds aren't giving the Mets quite as much love. They find themselves in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Majors with +1200 odds.
