Mets Being Disrespected by Latest ESPN MLB Power Rankings

The New York Mets have had an up-and-down start to the start of the 2021 MLB season. They've even managed to hold on to the NL East lead with a 22-20 record while dealing with key injuries. However, despite being division leaders, New York is still facing disrespect from experts around the baseball world.
ESPN has once again released its weekly MLB power rankings, this time placing the Mets at No. 15. Considering how they have the 13th-best record in the league while several key players are hurt, the latest power ranking is nothing short of disrespectful.

New York Mets Power Rankings
The disrespect doesn't stop there, though. ESPN has ranked the Atlanta Braves at No. 14 despite having a sub-.500 record and sitting 1.5 games behind New York in the division. Fortunately, the Mets have a three-game series against the Braves that begins on Friday, giving them the perfect chance to create some separation both in the division and the power rankings.
One area that the Mets need to improve on is their offense. The team is currently averaging 3.4 runs per game, which is the second-worst average in the MLB. New York is also hitting .225 as a team, which ranks 27th in baseball. Hopefully, the offense is rejuvenated once it starts getting back to full strength.
FanDuel Sportsbook has given the Mets +1000 odds to win the World Series. Considering how those are the 5th-best odds across the MLB, experts like ESPN need to start showing the Mets the respect that they deserve.
