Marvin Jones Fantasy Outlook Explodes With Three Touchdowns in First Half Against Vikings

Thanks to some inconsistent production this season, it's been tough to start Marvin Jones in fantasy football most weeks. A matchup with the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 looked particularly concerning.

Jones has handsomely rewarded anybody who had faith in him for this Week 7 performance though, scoring three touchdowns in the first half alone.

As the Detroit Lions' WR2, Jones has played second fiddle to Kenny Golladay for the most of the season. Golladay came into Week 7 averaging 9.0 targets per game compared to Jones' 6.6, with Golladay outscoring him by over 10 PPR points in 2019.

Jones is the clear top option in Detroit this week though, with an 8-to-2 edge in first-half targets and a massive 29.5 PPR fantasy points to show for it.

Don't expect this to be a season-long shift, as Golladay is a safer bet to continue serving as the Lions' top receiver moving forward. It is a reminder, however, not to give up quickly on a big-play threat like Jones. His production may be inconsistent, but his upside is elite.

Jones and the Lions should get an even easier matchup in Week 8 against the New York Giants, and while a repeat performance isn't likely, he will be well positioned for another serviceable fantasy game.
