During the offseason, the Indianapolis Colts were among the perceived favorites to land star running back Le'Veon Bell. However, they ultimately did not pursue Bell, instead opting to stick with Marlon Mack as their starting RB. Mack was impressive as a runner in 2018, though he didn't offer much value as a receiver.

However, the early returns suggest that Mack is developing as a pass-catcher, which could point to fantasy success this season.

Mack plays on a Colts team that spreads out the defense, while also having a powerful offensive line up front. Indianapolis' RBs were stuffed on just 17.8 percent of their rushes in 2018, which is the ninth-best mark in the NFL. An effective offensive line is a huge key to fantasy RB success, so this could give Mack an advantage in 2019.

The biggest flaw in Mack's game is his pass-catching ability, as he only hauled in 17 receptions last season. However, his usage in Indianapolis' second preseason game could point to an increase in production as a receiver, as Mack was on the field for all three of the starting offense's third downs.

This is a change from last season, as Mack consistently lost third-down work to Nyheim Hines, who caught 63 passes. That's a significant development because while it's unlikely that Mack is a great receiving option in 2019, his presence on the field could lead to increased fantasy production.

Mack is currently being drafted as RB18 (34th overall), which could end up being a steal if he becomes an every-down back in Indianapolis' explosive offense.
