Mariners Get Bad News With Yusei Kikuchi Injury Update

The Seattle Mariners haven't had much luck this season, sitting in third place in the AL West at 29-31 on the year. That bad luck continued on Saturday when starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi was hit in the knee on a comebacker. It ultimately caused him to leave the game with a knee contusion.
Mariners News: Yusei Kikuchi Injury
While Kikuchi is just listed as day-to-day now, that could change depending on the results of some testing. It could be safe to assume he will miss a start regardless, but if he heads to the IL, that all of a sudden becomes multiple starts.

This comes at a tough time for Kikuchi, who has won two of his last three starts, only surrendering a combined six runs in those three outings.
If the Mariners hope to get back into shouting distance of the division lead, they will need to stay healthy. And Kikuchi avoiding a trip to the IL is a good place to start.
