The home team has won two straight and six of the last nine meetings between the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators, and it certainly doesn't look like the oddsmakers believe that 2020 is going to the year that bucks this trend.
Even with the 2020 college football offseason experiencing some unprecedented spring delays and cancellations, the odds and spreads around more than 100 of this fall's biggest matchups are now available on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Florida vs LSU Football Spread 2020
Sitting months away from the 67th all-time meeting between these two football programs, Florida has already opened as a rather generous 3-point favorite over the defending national champion Tigers at home in Week 6 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Florida has most of the makings of a championship-caliber team after an 11-2 season that only featured losses to the No. 1 (15-0 LSU) and No. 5 (12-2 Georgia) teams in the nation. The Gators had the No. 8 scoring defense in the country in 2019, allowing only 14.4 points per game (PPG), and they knew how to get after opposing QBs too, averaging 3.77 sacks per game (No. 4 in FBS).
While Florida lost a few notable names from the defensive side of the ball to the 2020 NFL Draft, the offensive balance rests on QB Kyle Trask after losing Feleipe Franks to the transfer portal, along with RB La'Mical Perine and WR Van Jefferson to the NFL Draft.
However, there is a rather key difference between a roster with makings of a title contender and the defending national champions themselves in LSU. Yes, LSU lost a record-tying amount of talent to NFL Draft this April, but they still return the man behind it all in head coach Ed Orgeron. LSU will also field promising QB talent Myles Brennan, supported by none other than the program's single-season receiving leader and top wideout from a season ago in Ja'Marr Chase.
There's still plenty of time for things to change between now and this 2020 SEC showdown, but the Gators remain early favorites for the time being. Barring any scheduling changes we may see, Florida is currently set to host LSU at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020.
