Lions Not Close to Fixing Fractured Calvin Johnson Relationship

With Calvin Johnson elected to the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, it was the perfect time for the Detroit Lions to mend the fracture in their relationship. Johnson has distanced himself from the organization over a contract dispute, but made it clear things would be fixed if the Lions offered to pay him the money he was forced to give back when he retired.
Well, the Lions' latest offer ahead of the HoF induction fell short in the wideout's eyes.

Calvin Johnson Lions Money
Johnson's dispute with the team is based on the $1.6 million he was forced to pay back from his signing bonus when retiring. Detroit's latest offer included similar money -- $500K annually for three years, plus a $100K donation to the receiver's charity -- but required appearances for Johnson to actually earn it.
"Johnson's other obligations under the proposal would have included things like making a training camp appearance, filming a videoboard feature and taking part in VIP and sponsor events."
- Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press
The stipulations put in place by the Lions regarding team-related obligations didn't go over well with Johnson. He said "they're not serious" about actually fixing the divide between the two parties.
The prolific wideout is now officially a member of the Hall of Fame, but it remains to be seen if Detroit can get Megatron back in their good graces.
