Injuries were an issue last year for 2020 No. 3 overall pick Jeff Okudah, but he was ready to make some noise after an offseason to get healthy. However, things took a sudden turn on Sunday after the Detroit Lions' cornerback needed to be helped off of the field in the fourth quarter.

Early fears about Okudah's injury have become a reality.

Tests have confirmed that Okudah suffered a ruptured Achilles against the San Francisco 49ers. It's gutting news that will end the second-year pro's season prematurely.

Okudah's 2021 debut didn't get off to the greatest start, as he was at fault for giving up a few big plays, but now he'll see his year cut short once again due to injuries. The former Ohio State standout was limited to just nine games in 2020 due to various ailments, including a core injury that ended his rookie season early.

This a huge blow for an already shaky Lions defense. Detroit's -2500 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook to miss the playoffs paint them as major longshots to contend for a postseason berth, and Okudah's absence won't make things any easier.
