Latest MLB Power Rankings Prove Royals Are for Real

Winners of four straight, the Kansas City Royals sit atop the AL Central with a 13-7 record. The team has been off to a hot start to the 2021 MLB season and is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.
While some fans and experts may have doubted them to start the season, the Royals continue to prove that they are for real. MLB.com has even taken notice, putting them at No. 7 in this week's power rankings. What makes this placement even more significant is that the team was No. 20 last week, so this boost is more than just a couple of spots.

Despite being at the top of their division, the Royals are not the highest-ranked AL Central team on MLB.com's power rankings. That honor actually belongs to the Chicago White Sox, who are ranked one spot higher at No. 6.
From a runs production perspective, the Royals are a middle-of-the-pack kind of team. Their 4.55 runs per game rank 12th across the MLB. A lot of their offense has come from Salvador Perez, Carlos Santana and Whit Merrifield, who all have more than 10 RBIs on the season. Speaking of Merrifield, he's tied for the league-lead in stolen bases with 8.
Even with the success that they've been having this season, the Royals remain longshots to win the World Series. FanDuel Sportsbook has given them +7500 odds to win baseball's top prize.
