The race for the 2020 Heisman Trophy has taken a drastic shift this weekend.
As recently as Friday, Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was a clear favorite to win the award, having pulled away from Kyle Trask.

After Alabama's 52-46 shootout win over Florida in the SEC Championship, however, FanDuel Sportsbook's Heisman odds have a new favorite. At -140, Alabama wideout Devonta Smith has passed his QB, with Jones falling to second at +170.

It's not that Jones didn't show out on Saturday — 418 yards and 5 touchdowns on 33-of-43 passing is absolutely nothing to scoff at. It's just that Smith accounted for a huge share of that.

After having a relatively quiet day in Week 15, Smith went off in the conference championship. He tallied a season-high 15 receptions, which he converted into 184 yards and 2 touchdowns.

That's Smith's sixth game with multiple receiving TDs on the year, and also his sixth game eclipsing 150 yards receiving.

The fact that the 2020 Heisman race is essentially a two-horse contest between Alabama's quarterback and top wideout at this point is telling about just how dominant this passing attack has been in 2020.

Nobody else has odds better than +1500 (Trevor Lawrence) to win the award, and another member of the Crimson Tide offense (Najee Harris) joins Trask with +2400 odds to round out the top five.
