The Baltimore Ravens have done everything they can this past offseason to surround quarterback Lamar Jackson with offensive weapons. The fourth-year playmaker will be looking to keep his NFL success going and heads into the fall as a safe QB1 option in fantasy football leagues.
Lamar Jackson Fantasy Outlook
Jackson finished the 2020 season as the No. 10 QB in fantasy football and saw the majority of his production come from his rushing abilities. The 24-year-old posted his second consecutive 1,000-yard season on the ground and added 7 touchdowns as well.
However, his decline in passing efficiency is the primary thing keeping Jackson from being the No. 1 quarterback in fantasy football.
In 2019, he put up 3,127 passing yards while averaging 8.9 adjusted yards per attempt (AY/A) with 36 touchdowns and a TD rate of 9.0%. In 2020, those numbers fell to 2,757 yards (7.6 AY/A) with 26 TDs and a 6.9% TD rate. As a result, Jackson dropped from QB1 status in 2019 to QB10 in 2020.
Head coach John Harbaugh has shown a commitment to the running game and knows how Jackson can make an impact using his feet. Baltimore led the NFL with a 55.04% rushing play percentage in 2020 and there is no reason to believe that will change moving forward.
Lamar Jackson ADP
FantasyPros' average draft position data shows Jackson is being drafted No. 41 overall and No. 4 amongst QBs in standard leagues.
The Ravens leader seems like a lock to rush for over 1,00 yards once again and his high floor makes him a perfectly safe option at quarterback. Just don't expect him to be the No. 1 QB he was in 2019. The efficiency he had that year was always going to be unsustainable, and it's unlikely he increases his passing volume enough to make up for that dip.
Jackson checks in as the QB3 in The Duel's 2021 fantasy football rankings.
