After taking over as the Baltimore Ravens starting quarterback in Week 11 of the 2018 season, Lamar Jackson averaged 18.6 fantasy points per game — a mark that would have ranked 13th among QBs over the whole season.

Despite that impressive end to the year, Jackson only has an average draft position (ADP) of QB14, per FantasyPros.com, as the final fantasy football drafts of the offseason wind down and the 2019 season approaches.

Lamar Jackson Fantasy Outlook 2019

Jackson produced massive numbers with his legs in 2018, setting the NFL record for most rush attempts in a season for a QB despite starting only seven games. He turned his 147 carries into 695 yards and five touchdowns, and as a starter he averaged 11.5 fantasy points per game just from rushing yards and touchdowns.

Mobile QBs tend to have huge upside, and that rushing ability also gives Jackson a nice floor on a weekly basis. We probably shouldn't expect him to average 17 rush attempts per game again, but in a full 16-game season he could see a steep drop in carries per contest and still break his own record.

And his outlook gets even better when we factor in potential improvements in the passing game. QBs tend to make a big step between their rookie and sophomore seasons, and the Ravens have had a whole offseason to mold their offense around Jackson's strengths, instead of adapting on the fly from a Joe Flacco-led offense like they did last year.

Lamar Jackson Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

If you drafted Jackson, there's a good chance you'll be treated to some strong returns right away as he opens the 2019 season with a terrific matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Miami allowed top-10 fantasy production to opposing QBs in 2018 while getting torched for the NFL's third-most yards per pass attempt. The Dolphins also had a really rough time against rushing QBs, allowing the highest and fifth highest single-game rushing yard totals to the position.

Both of those were against Josh Allen, who Jackson joined as the only quarterback to finish in that top five, sitting second and tied for fifth.

Jackson stacks up as a top-10 QB to open the season, according to our Week 1 fantasy football rankings.
