Kyle Shanahan Owns Sean McVay

Two of the sharpest young head coaches in the league met on Sunday as Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers edged out Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers, now 5-6, took home a 23-20 win thanks to the return of key players from injury and a last-second field goal by kicker Robbie Gould.
Shanahan continued his recent dominance against the Rams and McVay with his victory, making him 4-0 against Los Angeles in the past two seasons.

San Francisco earned two wins, 20-7 and 34-31, against Los Angeles during their Super Bowl run in 2019. The 49ers also took down the Rams earlier this year in a 24-16 home win.
The Rams entered Sunday's game as the favorite with a 7-3 record and home-field advantage, but the 49ers didn't trail until the fourth quarter, when Los Angeles took a 20-17 lead. The 49ers evened things up with a late field goal and then won the game as time expired with a 42-yard kick by Robbie Gould.
Los Angeles sits in second place in the NFC West with a 7-4 record. San Francisco is now 5-6, currently in fourth place, but perhaps Sunday's victory will gather the momentum Shanahan and his team needed to make a run at the division crown.
