The Miami Dolphins pulled off a big upset in Week 9, defeating the Arizona Cardinals by a field goal. This elevates rookie Tua Tagovailoa to 2-0 on the season, with the Dolphins as a whole having a 5-3 record.

Is it time to the the Dolphins seriously? There's one stat that certainly says so.

The Dolphins sit in second in the AFC East with a 5-3 record. It's not like they're exactly sneaking by opponents, either. Miami has a plus-61 point differential, which is the fourth-best mark in the NFL. The only teams ahead of the Dolphins in that regard are the Kansas City Chiefs (plus-103), the Baltimore Ravens (plus-85) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (plus-74).

It's the defense of the Dolphins that has been the most surprising. They scored again in Week 9 after getting on the board in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams. Before that, they shut out the New York Jets, 24-0, and they dominated the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5, 43-17.

Now, the Dolphins have a soft upcoming schedule, facing four teams that have a combined seven wins. They could be poised to add to their already-impressive resume in the coming weeks.
